OUR STORY
Established in 1999
Samilco is an agricultural cooperative run by our members. We were established in March 1999 and today represent around 200 milk producers in the Western and Eastern Cape of South Africa. Together, our members produce approximately 375 million litres of milk per year, which represents around 13% of South Africa’s total milk production.
For milk producers
Our aim
Our aim is to help create a competitive and profitable market environment for milk producers who are members of Samilco, in order to promote their continued existence.
Samilco is managed and administered by a representative board of directors constituted from the areas we service. All our directors are primary milk producers. Our activities are financed by a monthly levy of 0.2% of members’ nett income from milk sales. Samilco’s office is registered in Bredasdorp (at the Boshoff Visser premises), and the cooperative is staffed by a General Manager, Technical Manager and an Office Manager.
